AGARTALA, Feb 21 (TIWN): Banking sectors will be nonoperational in Tripura, along with the whole nation, as the United Forum of Bank Unions called for a two-day strike from March 24 with their various demands. In this regard, demonstrations were staged in Agartala, in front of the State Bank of India and other banks, announcing the two days strike.
Talking to media, an agitation participant said, "We have called for the two-days strike with 14-point-demands. Keeping the strike ahead, statewide we are organizing various demonstration programs and today's protest is a part of it."
The protests were organized on Friday in Agartala in front of Punjab National Bank, SBI and Gramin Bank branches.
"We have scheduled various activities in the next two days keeping the strike ahead," said a Bank employee.
The important demands of the Bank officials such as : Recruit more numbers of employees in the Banking sector, a 5-day banking system, providing more protection to the bank employees amid rising attacks on them, to stop the central finance department's interference in Banking internal operations.
