AGARTALA, Nov 25 (TIWN): The traffic jam is an everyday issue in Agartala city. Due to 70 to 80’s rapid urbanization in Agartala, the city developed unplanned narrowing the road expansion opportunities and the traffic jam is causing havoc every day in daily travelers' lives, hitting office hours especially. During rainy days, this unplanned city shows its true color when garbage and water waves around the city and people are seen stuck in this dirty water-loggings. To reduce the jams, the AMC and Traffic Dept are taking various steps.
Sometimes, the departments try to civilize the people by fining challans and sometimes attempt to aware the people with friendly reminders, but the issue remains in its place as it is.
On Monday, Traffic Dept officials visited the Maharajganj market area (one of the most congested areas) and talked to the vehicle drivers, and locals and discussed what to do.
A meeting has been scheduled on the plan to control the jams in the area. This falls under friendly moves of the Traffic Department to improve the situation.
However, no static plan could be decided yet as a resolution on how to solve this traffic jamp issue permanently.
