AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Police lodged a case in traffic police harassment case that took place on Friday.

Some rowdy youth were abusing traffic police officials after police caught them for violating traffic laws. The video surfaced on social media.

Congress party staged a protest in front of the SDPO office alleging, that police did not arrest the youth because each of them belongs to BJP party and part of BJP’s bike-gang.

West District Police confirmed a specific case was registered in this incident and sought public’s cooperation.

The District police has posted on social media, “A Video surfaced on social media showing a hot altercation between a Traffic Police Officer and some public.In this connection a specific case has been registered vide West Agt. PS Case No. 2024 WAG 117, U/S 132/351(2)(3)/3(5) of BNS & Section 3 (1)(r)(s) of the Schedules Castes & The Schedules Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. Investigation is in progress. Strict actions will be taken against the people involved. All are requested to cooperate with Police for the greater interest of the society.”

So far no arrest has been made in this incident.
