AGARTALA, Sep 5 (TIWN): Flood has caused devastating losses to farmers across Tripura this month, adding significant losses to the agricultural sector. Farmers are facing heavy losses in Charilam, which comes under the Bishalgarh subdivision, and is recognized as the most productive area, Chechrimai, has been washed away in the flood. The farmlands have been left with only rotten leaves, turning the cultivating lands into a wasteland.
Farmers sought the state government’s help to overcome the losses they had been facing.
The most affected areas come under Parimal Chowmuhani to Chechrimai.
One such farmer facing excessive losses Sushanta Nandi said, “This year I cultivated various types of vegetables and growth appeared huge, but this flood has destroyed all my vegetables, causing unbearable losses.”
