AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): For centuries, Tripura has been depicted as Tea producing state in India. From school books to tourism description tea is an integrated part of the state’s map, but various tea gardens are now handed over to private organizations or even to construct private properties which is unlawful, alleged opposition CPI-M while placing a deputation to the Labour Commission.
CPI-M party leaders accused the BJP Govt of closing tea gardens and handing over the land to others which is not only an attack on the tea industry but poor people’s livelihood are at major threat.
“This is unlawful. Tea garden lands can not be handed over for any other purposes. But right now, Tripura’s tea gardens are under attacks over land occupying race. So, in protest we are going to the Labour department office,” added CPI-M leader Manik Dey.
