TELIAMURA, May 19 (TIWN): A herd of wild elephants attacked once again in Kapal Tila village in Teliamura, killing a cow.
The villagers alleged, even after informing no government official had come to take the cattle.
“Recently an old man was killed in our locality. Today this cow was killed leaving a farmer’s family under severe losses. We survive by farming and if our cattle are killed in this way, we have no alternative for livelihood,” said a local.
“Roaming in the area has become dangerous. The elephants are entering into our homes. If such situations go on, we have to leave the area for our lives,” said another local.
The killed cow belongs to Amal Chowdhury, who is a farmer by profession.
Recently, Minister Vikash Debbarma assured to bring a solution of the increasing wild-elephant attacks but his promise remained only in words.
