AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Tripura Govt takes up Robust Initiative to bring down Malaria-Deaths to Zero this year. National Health Mission Secretary Kiran Gitte told media that Tripura is gradually moving towards a zero-malaria death state and by 2027, the state is targeting to emerge as Malaria-free state. Taking a lesson from the previous year where out of 22,000 malaria infection cases, around 14,000 cases were detected in Dhalai District alone, this year Tripura Health Department with the help of block-level administration launched mass-testing program to monitor the situation and to eradicate the deaths.
Kiran Gitte said, annually three times the tests will be done and 9.50 lakhs of free mosquito-nets would be distributed. Awareness campaigning to be organized across the state.
“Health experts have identified most of the people who were exposed to stuck water places like rubber garden workers are high-risk group for malaria-infection. To combat this, authorities are emphasizing the importance of awareness and also timely testing as the key to early detection and prevention of the disease,” he said.
“In a proactive move ASHA employees will conduct door to door testing and the detected people would be given free-treatment,” Gitte said.
“By 2027, we are targeting to make Tripura malaria free and by 2030, the country is to be malaria-free,” the National Health Mission secretary told media.
