AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): Rekha Chakma, the first Padmashree awardee of the Chakma community, was felicitated at the BenuBan Buddha Vihar in Agartala on Saturday under the initiative of the Chakma Youth Cultural Forum.
Recently, President Draupadi Murmu honored Rekha Chakma with Padmashree for her outstanding achievements in textile weaving industry.
The President awarded him the civic honor in New Delhi last Thursday. Rekha Chakma arrived in Agartala from Delhi today. He was welcomed to the Buddha temple with a procession from Agartala airport.
