AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): After BJP lost in Tripura Bar Association Election and opposition CPI-M and Congress won the election, Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Barman mocked BJP for its failure in the Bar amid majority of the people are BJP there. As his first reaction, Sudip Barman said, “Lawyers are intellectuals. Intellectuals show the path to the society."
"If you count the members of the bar the ruling party members are more in numbers but yet the intellectuals regardless political identities voted for the non-BJP platform named ‘Save Constitution’. They realized that India’s democracy is under threat and the constitution is in danger. That’s why the winning was at record-margin. Previously, nobody won at such a record margin in the Bar Association poll," said Barman.
“It shows how Indians want to see the nation in coming days. The intellectuals have shown the path and common men should follow that,” said Barman.
Barman said, BJP lawyers themselves did not vote for the BJP and that’s why even after having more BJP members in the Bar, BJP lost the poll.
Barman also said, in the coming Lok Sabha election, the poll will bring a heavy impact.
