AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha drastically reduced helicopter rides under his governance which escalated under the previous CM Biplab Deb.
Even to join marriage programs the previous CM Biplab Deb had been using helicopters frequently, triggering massive controversy over wastage of funds. It was last in 2022, that due to an alleged “technical snag” Biplab Deb (who was no more a CM and became Lok Sabha MP) could not fly in a helicopter to attend a program. He had to take roadways to reach there. After that, helicopter rides by political leaders are hardly seen in this state.
The incumbent chief minister Dr Manik Saha uses trains or roadways to reach other districts either for poll campaigning or to attend govt programs.
CM on Sunday visited North Tripura District covering areas from Dharmanagar to Ambassa to campaign for the East Tripura constituency candidate Kriti Singh. All BJP members who were accompanying the CM including candidate Kriti Singh travelled by train.
