CHURAIBARI, March 21 (TIWN): On duty, TSR Jawan of 13 Battalion named Sandana Darlong died in a road accident who was checking the vehicles at the Churaibari checkpost as a part of the election duties. The incident happened in the Baghan area in Churaibari, when a speedy bike without any number plate hit him at night around 11 pm on Wednesday. The bike was reportedly trying to go to Assam.
According to police, the on-duty jawan was trying his best to stop the Pulsar bike but the biker hit him. Both the bike driver and the TSR jawan left injured. The TSR jawan was immediately brought to Kadamtala Health Center. Seeing his condition critical, he was referred to Dharmanagar Hospital but after checking, he was declared dead.
On Thursday after the post-mortem, the body will be taken for paying tribute as part of the protocol before handing over the body to the family.
SP North Bhanupada Chakraborty said, a case has been registered and proper action will be taken against the culprit.
