AGARTALA, March 9 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his surprises how some people come to him to discuss whether they can start a medical college here in Tripura or not.
“I am surprised that people who do not know anything about medical line, they also want to start it. It is not a healthy idea.” Said Saha.
“Instead of mushroom-style medical colleges, let’s make our existing colleges great so that Tripura’s name can shine and quality education can be provided,” said CM Dr. Manik Saha.
CM however nodded for a 500-bed superspeciality hospital.
"If new colleges are made, private hospitals should bring Doctors from outside or recruit on their own. They should not be using our Doctors who are working in Govt sectors," said CM.
Dr. Manik Saha was addressing a program organized by the Indian Medical Association, Tripura Branch at Muktadhara Auditorium and said, Tripura Govt is now focussing to develop the infrastructure of the state hospitals and left out four district hospitals should have trauma centers.
He advised people to be sympathetic towards Doctors and must come forward to stop attacks on the Doctors.
