AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): Addressing the hunger strike-breaking program, Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Manikya said, not only Tiprasa but also other communities people are supporting the Tipra Motha’s agitation at Hathai Kathar. Pradyot Manikya who returned from Delhi today after a tripartite agreement was signed between Tipra Motha, Govt of India, Govt of Tripura over Tribal development, rushed to Hathai Kathar agitation spot to break his hunger strike. Manikya said, he had been surviving on glucose before that. “Today a Bengali friend called me and said, I have full support from the person, acknowledging if my grandfather had not opened the border in 1947 during India-Pak division, then they could not have saved their religion too. If they are Hindu today, because of us,” Manikya added.
“This land where you are sitting today, once belonged to your grandfathers but today, it has no owner,” said Manikya amid claps and cheers from the mob.
The agreement was signed before Lok Sabha poll, assuring full support to develop the tribal community of Tripura.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a press conference chaired by Tripura CM Manik Saha and Tipra Motha leaders said, the agreement is historical.
“Either it’s about Bru agreement, or borders, Govt of India has worked keenly to solve the issues and it is the last agreement as the Lok Sabha poll is happening soon. In 2019, the deal with NFLF, in 2020 Bru and Boro, in 2022 Adisbasi agreement, in 2022 Assam-Meglaya interstate border agreement, in 2023 Assam-Arunachal interstate agreement and ULFA agreement and many such agreements were made to end the disputes either for borders or for the issues of the community,” said Amit Shah.
