AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): Addressing the Road Safety Month 2024 at Astabal ground, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha appealed for accident-free society.
“In our country 1 lakh 68 people died in road accidents in this country last year due to road accidents and over 4 lakhs people were injured,” said CM Manik Saha.
CM said, most of the accident victims are young people who are from 18 to 35 years old.
The youth not only become victims of road accidents but also create problems for others. They are putting their whole family in severe tension.
“Let’s make a country where the number of accidents will be zero. In 1971 Tripura had only over 3000 vehicles and now it’s over 8 lakhs. Everyone must drive carefully and save lives,” added CM.
The program is celebrated statewide but the main program was inaugurated in Agartala by CM.
Addressing the occasion the CM stated, “Our Prime Minister has also taken the road safety issue very seriously and that’s why he introduced new laws for road safety.”
