AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Two and a half year old child Anuj drowned in the pond while collecting lychee.

This heartbreaking incident took place on Wednesday morning in North Sonaichari area under Belonia police station. The dead child's name is Anuj Das, S/O-Litan Das.

The family broke down in cries after Doctor declared him dead. This incident caused mass gathering in the hospital premise.

It is known that there is a pond next to the house and the lychee tree is located near the pond. When the family members of the house were busy with their work in the morning, Anuj went to collect litchi from the pond and fell into the pond. Family members and grandmother started searching for Anuj.

At last his uncle Sadhan Das saw Anuj's body floating in the pond. He immediately went down to the pond and picked up Anuj's body and brought it to Belonia subdivisional Hospital.

The doctor on duty at the hospital declared Anuj dead.
