AGARTALA, May 6 (TIWN): Police of North Tripura led by SP North Bhanupratap Chakraborty seized over 60,000 Ya-Ba tablets on Friday night. The Police Superintendent received secret information that a large amount of ya-ba tablets will enter the state from Assam. As per instructions, the police of the local police station started a strong search at the Naka point of Churaibari police station at 12:30 on Friday night. Finally, around six o'clock on Saturday morning, a white colored car numbered TR01F/2938 was stopped by the police on duty. After searching the car, the police recovered a total of 60,000 Yaba tablets in six packets from the side of the petrol tank.
Three traffickers named Shubhankar Debnath, Idris Mia and Rajat Pal were arrested. They area from Dhanpur of Sonamura subdivision, Tripura.
Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty said that this success came out when the operation was conducted on the basis of secret information at around 12:30 on Friday night. The 60,000 Yaba tablets from Assam were seized on the way into the state.
He also said that the black market value of the recovered Yaba tablets is 6 crore rupees. This is the biggest success in the recovery of Yaba tablets ever in the state.
The arrested persons will be produced before the Dharmanagar District Court on Sunday for police remand.
