AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Opposition blamed Tipra Motha party for playing a scripted drama role in the Assembly by walking out of the Assembly ahead of Speaker’s poll where Tipra Motha MLAs were expected to cast vote for Congress MLA Gopal Roy. CPI-M former MLA Prabhat Chowdhury said “It is a scripted drama to bypass the BJP”. BJP candidate, MLA Biswabandhu Sen has won the speaker post in Speaker’s poll. Biswabandhu Sen becomes Tripura Assembly Speaker with 32 votes. Opposition Congress candidate Gopal Roy got 14 votes. Tipra Motha did not cast votes, as the party MLAs had walked out of the Assembly ahead of the poll with sitting arrangement issue.
The walk-out has left opposition candidate, Congress MLA with an inevitable defeat situation as Gopal Roy’s name was proposed by Tipra Motha.
Tipra Motha also did not participate in nomination submission process of the opposition yesterday, though CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury was confident about Tipra Motha's support.
