AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Two candidates, BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen and Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy contested for the post of Tripura Assembly Speaker. After Poll Result was declared, BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen won in Tripura Assembly Speaker Poll and Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy defeated.

BJP MLA Bishwabandhu Sen got a total of 32 votes, Gopal Chandra Roy got 14 votes and Tipra Motha MLAs abstained from voting. BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen is the speaker of the 13th Legislative Assembly.

However, Tipra Motha MLAs walked out of the session over a minor issue

Members of the ruling and opposition parties welcomed the newly appointed Speaker.
