AGARTALA, March 9 (TIWN): Water scarcity is the biggest issue in our state since a long and the problem yet not been resolved. Residents of Ward No. 7 of Ambasa Municipal Council blocked the National Highway this Morning demanding drinking water. Along with the women, men of the area also participated in this protest in front of the Ambasa Municipal Council on the national road with pitcher buckets, mugs and jugs.
It should be noted that the residents of Ward No. 7 of Ambasa Municipal Council are not getting water since the day after the election on February 17 which created angst among them. It is alleged the local people not getting water for the past 10-12 days.
Shankar Chakraborty, councillor of Ward No.-7 of Ambassa Municipal Council, said that if the residents do not get drinking water, they will continue protest by blocking the roads.
Later on, receiving the road blockade news the Police rushed to the spot and removed them from the blockade spot.
Now it is to be seen when the drinking water issue will be solved.
