AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): As public is concerned what may happen after Election Commission will no more be controlling Tripura’s law and order once the result is declared, on being asked by media CEO Kiran Gitte stated that Election Commission will be observing the situation in Tripura till 4th March and will keep a watch over the state police’s activity. “We want to release the central force, other states’ police soon and now the election is already over, and everything should be normalized. But still, if needed Election Commission may extend its duration in controlling the situation. As per the demand of the situation it will be done but the state also has to take over the charge of administration”, said CEO while replying to media queries.
Tripura poll was held on February 16 and the result will be declared on March 2nd.
Kiran Gitte assured that the strong rooms have been kept under CCTV surveillance and the CCTV footage is displayed on TV.
In a message for peace, SP West Shankar Debnath said, “Poll is over. Now there is no reason for such activities. We are working day-night to control the situation, but it is seen whenever an incident happens, political parties are trying to paint it with political colour. I appeal to all political parties to deal with the matters very sensitively”.
