AGARTALA, Feb 10 (TIWN): Amid rising competition between Tripura local TV channels on breaking news, opinion polls centering the Assembly Election, few media channels have been planning to go for early opinion polls, which has generated controversy about the Election protocols. The clear the confusion, CEO called a meeting with the news channel owners and drew the lines for dos and don’ts. CEO Kiran Gitte on Friday informed media that he has instructed all channels, newspapers to restrain from any opinion poll or exit polls before 27th February.
He also reminded the media houses about the 48 hours protocol when the channels need to stop themselves from broadcasting any opinion or displaying any campaigning / showing any old video, speech which would violate the guidelines. CEO said, that the 48 hours time given to the voters, is aimed at giving a space to the voters to take their final decision on whom to vote.
Tripura Election is on 16th February and the result will be declared on 2nd March.
