AGARTALA, Dec 4 (TIWN): After the arrest of Bangladeshi Nationals who entered India illegally from Bangladesh one after another ahead of polls, now eight cows were detained by the BSF during the illegal smuggling of cows to Bangladesh late at night. The incident occurred in India-Bangladesh International border at Hirachhara ADC Village under Irani Police Station in Kailashahar. BSF was able to seize the eight cows while smuggling cows illegally through the International Border of India-Bangladesh, but the smugglers could not be arrested as the smugglers escaped after noticing BSF.
Seized 8 cows by BSF were brought to Irani police station and handed over to the police.
Irani police station OC Jatindra Das told reporters that the BSF was patrolling the India-Bangladesh International Border area under Irani police station in Hirachhara ADC village late on Saturday night. At that time, a smuggler with eight cows was coming towards the International border of India and Bangladesh. The smuggler saw the BSF patrolling in the border area, noticing BSF the smuggler ran away leaving the cow in the Border area. The patrolling BSF seized the eight cows and initially took them to Heerachhra BOP in the night, then on this Sunday morning, BSF brought eight cows to Irani PS and handed them over to the police.
OC Jatindra Das also said that the police sent the eight cows to the ‘Goshala’ and are searching for the real owner of the cows. He also informed that recently, on the eve of the polls, a meeting was held between the police and the BSF on some important issues. As a result, Bangladeshi citizens who enter India illegally from Bangladesh could be detained and also to stop the Cow smuggling across the International Border.
However, the smuggling incident has erupted tension among local people ahead of Poll.
