Agartala, January 15 (TIWN): Tripura is facing serious load-shedding problem due to drop of supply from within state. Life and business has been largely affected due to power cuts enforced for hours every day. Load shedding in Tripura has made life miserable as Tripura’s own power generation is down to its half of total capacity during past few days. The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) maintains to increase load-shedding time during past few days.
Replying a question, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of TSECL- Shyamal K Roy said, “Due to continuous faults in the power generation units, the people of Tripura have been facing unprecedented power-cut problem for last few days.”
An official source of TSECL stated over telephone that Palatana and Rukhia power plants were unable to meet the state’s power demand during past few days. The highest demand of power was recorded 210 MW on Wednesday. But the power plants were hardly able to generate less than half of its demand (100 MW), he added. “The deficit of power has forced the TSECL to maintain load-shedding across the state with increased timing”, said source.
As the TSECL started to manage shortage in power supply, the people of the state have been facing, frequent load-shedding more than 2 hours during last two week.
The CMD of TSECL assured that power-cut timing will be reduced once the power plants start generating power as per the target.
