AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): After the Natun Nagar firing incident which left two persons injured in front of Sonar Bangla Dhaba, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury expressed concerns over the increasing mafia-raj in state saying ‘such incidents have been spiking up at an alarming rate’.
Two persons Prabhakar Ghosh and Santosh Das of Usha Bazar were arrested in the incident, whereas Jitendra Chowdhury said, "Some show-off arrests were made but the kingpins are at large".
“This is not an isolated incident but such incidents are increasing. It has been observed that in such kinds of cases, BJP workers are involved mostly. In last 4.5 years the BJP hooligans have been controlling everything. Law and order have been given to such hooligans’ hands”, said Chowdhury.
“Such mafias are controlling everything including blocks, PWDs, offices illegally. Since the beginning such mafias were empowered disabling the policing system. They are not only controlling offices but also managing all kinds of smuggling, drug-paddling network”, said Jitendra Chowdhury.
“Police have miserably failed to arrest the culprits. The same culprits are now indulged in raping our mothers and sisters. Police have to be more active. Also, common men have to come forward to voice against such ongoing crimes”, added Chowdhury.
