AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): Terminated 10323 teachers on Wednesday have alleged that High Court and Supreme Court’s verdicts on 10323 teachers’ case were wrongly implemented which needs to be corrected. Today, the 10323 teachers gheraoed Education Dept seeking replies on the Supreme Court RTI issue and sought permission to join in schools. Addressing media, 10323 JMC member Kamal Deb said, “Today, we are here demanding permission to join in schools and without getting the permission, we will not move from here. Let the Home Dept and its police do whatever they like but we will fight till the end for our rights”. Huge numbers of police, TSR were deployed, and barricades were imposed to stop the 10323 teachers in front of the Shiksha Bhawan, Office Lane.
Teachers’ leader Bijoy Krishna Saha said, the Education Dept Director herself assured to give a proper reply by today on RTI issue and so from across the state amid rain, storms teachers have gathered here to demand their rights.
Around 5000 terminated teachers participated in the protest today. As per the RTI replied by Supreme Court, it was said that most of the 10323 teachers were not even a party in the entire legal case. Now, 10323 teachers alleged that they were illegally terminated, and must be reappointed in their posts.
