AGARTALA, July 19 (TIWN): Tripura High Court has ordered State Election Commission to complete the Village Committee Election by November 2022.
Advocate Anthony Debbarma told media that State Election Depot and State Govt’s intention was not to conduct the election and thus the state gave excuse of festivals like Durga puja and various other issues for delay of the polls.
“We asked if the festival is the issue, how cum by-poll took place ? However, Court has asked the Election Dept to conduct an election by November. Although it is too late as Assembly Election is also coming, still we on behalf of ADC and Tipra Motha welcome the verdict”, said Debbarma.
Anthony Debbarma also stated, “Why does not the Govt releases the funds for village development to ADC administration when Election for Village Committee is on hold ? It is a deprivation to the 13 lakhs indigenous population of the ADC area”.
