AGARTALA, Feb 15 (TIWN): CPI-M’s wings GMP and SC cell held a massive protest rally in Agartala against the Union Budget 2022 alleging the Budget has nothing for the scheduled tribes, scheduled casts people. Addressing the rally at Agartala City Centre, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, “After so many protests and movements, the then Congress Govt in 70’s era agreed to start SC sub-plan, ST sub-plan but the budget has always been very low. No step was taken to diminish the differences between the deprived people and the mainstream, but still the SC, ST got some reliefs but under Narendra Modi’s BJP the Planning Commission was abolished, and Niti Aayog was introduced. When Planning Commission does not exist, how can sub-plans work for SC, ST ?” “We demand the cancellation of the Budget and restoration of sub-plans for SC, ST. Enact reservation law in job recruitment. We also demand that unutilized funds should not be canceled but should be stored for the next year”, said Jitendra Chowdhury.
