AGARTALA, Feb 14 (TIWN): Tripura Congress party has burnt Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s effigy over his derogatory statement against Rahul Gandhi’s family persons.
Leaders from Assam also joined the protest in front of Tripura Congress's main office.

The Tripura Congress on Monday strongly hit back at the BJP for Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s comment on Rahul Gandhi. The party sought to ask the saffron party members wouldn’t feel bad if someone asks the same question as Himanta posed to Rahul, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda.
“But it is not Congress culture to pass such mean comments against any one. The Assam CM should read the Congress and its great leaders' history properly. Nehru spent 17 years in jail during the freedom struggle for the country. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi died for the sake of the nation,” a leader of the Congress said.
“The saffron party leaders like Himanta have no moral right to talk about Rahul Gandhi. Even Himanta Biswa Sarma’s apology will not be enough to get mercy” he said.
