AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): The Brick Industry Union, under CITU (CPI-M’s wing) placed a deputation to the Labour Commissioner demanding a wage hike of the workers.
Talking to media, a leader of the union said, “Earlier, every year, there were wage hikes but since 2018, not a single wage was hiked for the Brick Industry workers. The Govt has no concern about the industrial workers”.
“This Govt is anti-people and so totally silent over the pathetic condition of the brick factory workers. The workers are reeling under crisis, almost starving due to low wage. Their demands have been totally ignored. Unlike before, no meeting was held for wage hikes whereas before 2018, every year there was a meeting attended by owners, workers and the Labour Dept and per year, wages had been hiked”, said the leader of the Brick workers.
