AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): While addressing at Border Haat foundation stone laying programme at Kamalpur, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that Tripura and India indebted to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allowing the port to be used by Northeast India in 2019 which was once taken away by Pakistan.
CM said, “Export-Import with Bangladesh has increased. Both countries have been benefited from that. We thank Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina for giving Tripura a water-way as the state did not have any water-way earlier”.
“After Pakistan’s formation, Chittagong was taken away from us. But later Sheikh Mujibar Rahman and then Sheikh Hasina gave the port to Northeast India for use. Haldia port which was such a long distance is no more needed for import and export due to the Chittagong port and Northeast’s direct connection”.
