AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): Tripura Police has appealed for harmony and restricted communal hate speeches’ circulations centering TSR jawans’ murder incidents. Police have also ensured speedy investigation to ensure justice. The issue was raised after two TSR Jawans were killed by their colleague after being denied leave. In a statement, Police said, "Tripura Police appeal to the citizens of Tripura not to spread, share and circulate any hate speeches/messages and spread communal tension in the State. The investigation is being carried out speedily and professionally for ensuring justice. A large number of posts in social media demanding the death penalty of accused TSR jawan have been noticed. In some posts, there are calls for revenge/extrajudicial killings in the communal line. These posts are being scrutinized by the competent authority. Spreading of such messages are likely to invite legal complications”.
Two TSR jawans were killed on 3rd December by Sukanta Das at Gokul Nagar, Bishalgarh after they denied Sukanta's leave permission to Sukanta. Accused Sukanta Das who already accepted his guilt is now in Police custody.
However, Tripura DGP V.S. Yadav has informed the media, TSR Jawan Sukanta Das who has killed his two colleagues was not suffering from the leave issue.
DGP said, the jawans who are under ONGC do not have pressure at all. Moreover, Suknata Das’s record show he was going home every month.
Sukanta Das is now 5 days police remand. DGP personally has interrogated the accused.
The victim TSR Jawans are M.S. Jamatia and Kiran Jamatia. Tripura Govt has announced Rs. 5 lakhs compensation to both the killed jawans’ families.
