Stepfather raped daughter : North District Sessions Court sentenced the culprit father to life imprisonment

AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): On Sept 9, 2019 a minor girl was raped by her stepfather in absence of her mother. The nuisance incident took place in Ranibari area under Kadamtala police station. After the incident a case was launched at Kadamtala PS against the criminal father under POSCO Act.
The stepfather has been identified as Sajal Bhowmik.
After a 2-long year of trial, Justice Gautam Sarkar of the North District Sessions Court announced the verdict finally. The rapist was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 371 IPC and a fine of Rs 10,000. It is reported in this case about 22 witnesses were taken in the court.
The details were informed by Government lawyer Sudarshan Sharma.
