AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Tripura High Court has directed the State Election Commission to ensure free and fair election in Tripura Municipal bodies.
Left parties had filed the petition amid the ongoing violent situation in Tripura centering the election and alleged threats given to the candidates' voters by goons.
The High Court, along with directing the Election Commission for free and fair polls, has also asked to identify the sensitive zones and to ensure proper security to the areas.
Advocate on behalf of the petitioner also said, a list might be submitted for consideration about the sensitive areas of the poll as per the Court's order.
The Court ordered 24 hrs security to a CPI candidate Rakesh Das, directed DGP and SP in this regard. The candidate said, he could not complete his campaigning and tomorrow with security he will complete his door to door campaigning. Rakesh Das has thanked the High Court for the verdict.
