AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): In a peculiar incident, the locals attacked four saints who came from Uttar Pradesh entered the Shantinagar area under Teliamura police station in a Scorpio car on Saturday morning. The locals attacked the four saints and the driver of their vehicle due to suspicion on their real identity.

The four people are identified as Jitendra Goswami (31), Bhojraj (72), Dinesh (21), Tinku Goswami (32) and the driver of their vehicle is Dharmabir Singh (38). Excited mobs also smashed the Scorpio car, registered as UP-22 AU 0418. Later, upon receiving the news a huge police and TSR force including OC of Teliamura police station Govinda Das rushed to the spot.

When asked about the incident, Govinda Das, OC of Teliamura Police Station, said that the four saints from Uttar Pradesh were going to have morning tea at the house of one of their devotees in Shantinagar area but as soon as they entered Shantinagar area, they came under the red-eye of the locals.
