AGARTALA, Nov 17 (TIWN): CPI-M’s students wings SFI, TSU have placed deputation to the Director of Tribal Welfare seeking clearance of pending stipends of ST students.

Along with the demand for clearance of stipends, SFI and TSU also demanded that the income level which is checked for the students' stipend benefit eligibility should be reviewed because now price hikes have changed the market and so the income level should also be hiked to meet the criteria, otherwise, many poor students will be deprived.

A TSU leader said, if the demands are not fulfilled, then bigger forms of protests will be held. The Director reportedly told the SFI, TSU members that by November 30, the stipends will be cleared.
