AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Congress’s student unit NSUI gheraoed OBC Welfare Dept seeking clearance of the OBC scholarship.

The demand was going on for a long time as the students were unable to clear the pending fees.

Earlier the same happened with ST scholarships but after protest the scholarship was cleared. At that time, NSUI demanded to clear the OBC scholarships too which was long pending, but as the Dept has not cleared the scholarship, so NSUI gheraoed the dept.

At first the gate was kept locked but later the Dept allowed the students to meet the authority. A deputation was placed by the students on behalf of the deprived OBC students. After the deputation was accepted, NSUI withdrew the gherao.
