AGARTALA, Nov 9 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M has lashed out at the Police Department for its total failure to control the miscreants led attacks on the opposition party candidates.

In a press release, the CPI-M stated, “On November 7, the BJP miscreants severely attacked Sonamura Ward No- 7 candidate Baby Majumder forcing her to withdraw nomination. With lots of complications and murder threats also, she did not give up. Her married daughter’s home was attacked. By showing pistols all expensive items were looted………then BJP attacked another CPI-M member Polton Dey’s house and beaten him up. Family members were attacked with sharp weapons”.

CPI-M alleged that the entire incident was organized by MP Pratima Bhowmik’s brother Biswajit Bhowmik.  

Even after lodging complaints no action took place. Reacting over such role of Police, CPI-M said that police are playing silent spectator’s role.
