AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): To celebrate the Golden Jubilee of glorious victory of Indian Armed Forces' in 1971 Indo-Pak War, The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was honoured by Assam Rifles in Agartala on 07 Nov 2021.
Tripura played a pivotal role in the operations by being the epicentre of military and strategic planning for launching offensives against Bangladesh from multiple directions.
Lance Naik Albert Ekka of Indian Army made the supreme sacrifice in the heroic battle of Gangasagar and was awarded PVC the highest gallantry award of the nation. Brig AK Sharma, Sector Commander, Assam Rifles, Agartala received the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal with full military honours and special wreath laying ceremony was organised in the Assam Rifles Garrison to pay homage to the martyrs.
Subsequently the victory flame was moved to the Assam Rifles auditorium.
