AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): The Deprived Returnees Movement Committee in a press conference held in Agartala announced the blockade of Champak Nagar National Highway from 27th October that is tomorrow. So far the State Govt has not taken any initiative to hold talks briefly to end the problem. Addressing the press meet, the Committee General Secretary Amrit Reang said that last on 6th February a meeting was held with the higher authority where they placed their demands but as no demand was fulfilled they protested for 2 days from 17th to 18th August in 2021. If the National Highway is blocked, it will create huge disturbances in the transport system. Till now, the protest schedule has not been cancelled.
They had placed 9 points of demands.Later the Tribal Welfare Dept Secretary assured them that their demands will be looked after and accordingly the protests were withdrawn but till date no response came from the authority categorically about the demands and issues.
Due to Durga puja the protest was postponed but now the committee has announced the final date for road blockade from 27th October.
