AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Unlike last year, this year in Durga puja people have remained relaxed although they are not irresponsible and concerned about Covid. A survey shows that the public try to maintain social distance and wear masks but last year the people were in a panic state due to huge numbers of deaths during the Covid second wave. Tripura is an almost vaccinated state which has boosted the confidence further and various areas’ roads were found crowded in the festival season.
At the same time, due to COVID-19, a major section of people are preferably staying in homes and enjoying virtual Durga puja but the spirit of puja is nowhere decreased.
Agartala city is flooded by crowds ahead of Durga puja, people are busy in shopping, businessmen are busy in selling their items at maximum possible prices and youngsters are enjoying outings with friends. Though Covid concern remains on peak, the crowd is turning unmanageable as Durga puja is the biggest annual festival of Tripura, Bengal and Assam like states. Despite price rise, huge numbers of people are thronging the branded outlets' showrooms to grab the best outfits for themselves and their loved ones.
