DHARMANAGAR, Oct 1 (TIWN): The Ld. District & Sessions Judge, North Tripura, Dharmanagar convicted an accused person namely Bimal Paul S/O Lt. Brajendra Paul of Uptakali, Bhumihin Colony, PS- Panisagar, North Tripura U/S 326 IPC and sentenced to suffer R.I for 05 (five) years with a pay of fine Rs. 5,000/-, I.D to further suffer R.I for 03 (three) months and also U/S 307 IPC sentenced to suffer R.I for 10 (ten) years with a fine of Rs. 10,000/-, I.D to further suffer R.I for 06 (six) months. This refers to Panisagar PS Case No. 2018PNS039, Dated 13.08.2018 U/S 498(A)/326/307 IPC.

The case was registered on 13.08.2018 at 2345 hrs on the written complaint of complainant to the effect that about 08 years ago since the registration of the case, FIR named A/P married with the complainant and passed a few years of their conjugal life peacefully. During their conjugal life, the complainant gave birth to three children. But after few year husband of the complainant became greedy and started mental and physical torture upon the complainant demanding money from her parental house.  But the complainant could not fulfill the demand. Finally on 13.08.18 husband of the complainant started physical torture upon the complainant and set fire after pouring kerosene oil.  As a result, the complainant sustained grievous burnt injuries on her person.

The case was investigated by SI Samir Kanti Das, now at Anandabazar PS (1st I.O of the case) , thereafter by SI Ranjit Debbarma, now at Dharmanagar PS (2nd I.O of the case). During investigation 2nd I.O of the case had taken all efforts to complete the investigation on priority basis. Based on evidence on record, the accused person was arrested and forwarded to the Ld. Court. On completion of investigation, I.O had submitted Charge-Sheet on 20.01.2019 U/S 498(A)/326/307 IPC, against the arrested accused person namely Bimal Paul S/O Lt. Brajendra Paul of Uptakali, Bhumihin Colony, PS- Panisagar, North Tripura to face trial in the open court of law.

On completion of the trial, the Ld. District & Sessions Judge, North Tripura, Dharmanagar convicted the accused person as stated above. Ld. PP Sri Partha Paul has conducted the case as Public Prosecutor.
