AGARTALA, December 13 (TIWN): The post centenary silver jubilee celebration of Umakanta Academy will be celebrated on 15th and 16th December in the school premises, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sahid Choudhury will inaugurate the programme.

Speaking to the reporters at Umakanta Academy today Ashim Das teacher of the school said that   the Agartala HE school was founded by Maharaja Bir Chandra Manikya in 1890 and developed by the Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya when he acceded to the throne in 1896.

It was renamed as Umakanta academy in 1904 in recognition of good activities of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom Umakanta Das. It has three play grounds, one swimming pool and a hostel.

Our mission is to believe in the enormous potential of every child and provide excellent opportunities and quality education to mould him  to be a leader and winner of the world of tomorrow through the harmonious fusion of the ancient gurukulam and modern educational concepts. We will continuously improve the school's performance by involving the students, staff and parents, he added.
