AGARTALA, Jan 9 (TIWN): Horrifying domestic violence which was reported at Sidhai PS in 2014, of killing a housewife set on fire by husband after an argument. The case was produced before court on Friday and judge has sentenced the accused.
In 2014, the accused, Samir Munda lost his temper over an argument and poured kerosene over his wife, Panchami Munda and set her on fire in absence of their two sons. With the flaming body, the victim had alleged against her husband to her neighbor. Later, a case was filed against the accused husband under section 302 of Indian Penal Code for killing his wife. Under this section, the accused could be sentenced to death or imprisonment for life.
The case was raised on Friday under the judgment of Dhiman Debbarma before the District and Session Court-5, after hearing arguments from both sides the Judge declared Judgements over the accused. The court today convicted him of criminal contempt after 14 witnesses testified.
However, the verdict of punishment will be given on Monday.
