AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): The officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station told reporters that the 12 persons including a woman were arrested from MBB Airport for being in possession of fake identity documents.
Airport Police arrested 12 people suspected of being Bangladesh Citizens with fake Aadhaar cards and other documents from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. These 12 people reached Agartala through the Sonamura Border and had booked tickets for Chennai. After their arrest, they failed to provide legal documents to prove as they are Indians. Police also seized their illegal documents.
FIR filed against them under section 468/471 of IPC of Foreigners Act. They were produced before court today and court allowed with a plea to remand them in police custody.
"Twelve Bangladeshi citizens were about to fly to Chennai from Agartala via Guwahati through Indigo flight, 6E-119 showing fake AADHAR cards at the airport. They collected those fake AADHAR cards through agents of Sonamura Sub-division. " the police said.
Today 9 of the accused were taken to court and the remaining 3 were sent to juvenile court
