AGARTALA, Dec 22 (TIWN): Petition has been filed before High Court of Tripura for early conduct of TTAADC election and in the bench of Chief Justice Akil Kureshi this case was heard. Notice has been issued to EC, State Govt.
While interacting with media, Adv Mintu Debbarma said, “The state government has postponed the elections violating the Broad Guidelines of the Election Commission of India by making Covid 19 an issue. However, at the same time elections are going on without any chaos in other parts of the country. A petition has been filed so that the election can be held without any further delay”.
The government’s decision to appoint administrators to civic bodies is an undemocratic and autocratic one. Different states are conducting elections from the panchayat to the assembly level, but in Tripura, the BJP is avoiding elections.
By Biplab Deb’s decision, it seems like if there is a vote in the municipality, the ruling government will have to face a tough challenge. So the party is now postponing the entire procedure to avoid defeat.
