AGARTALA, Dec 19, (TIWN): The incident took place in the Dakshinpara area of Boxnagar today afternoon. Arif Hossain (17), son of Abul Hossain was walking before his house near the border when a BSF jawan on duty has hit Arif on the back and arm with a stick without doing any jingles on suspicion.
Locals alleged that besides Arif, Moinal Hossain, Ebadul Hossain and their fathers, Ali Hossain and Bachchu Mia were also harassed by the BSF for an unknown reason.
Showing a sign of protest, the locals of that area blocked roads. But later the situation came under control after the police of Kalamchaura police station came to the spot.
Meanwhile, the villagers complained that such incidents of BSF jawans are nothing new today. The jawans have been behaving indecently with the locals on a daily basis, but no one paid any attention to it.
To settle the matter, SI Sankar Das and L. Darlong, and some prominent personalities of that area visited the camp where Subal Kumar, the inspector in charge of the camp assured that such incidents would not happen again. He also requested the locals to cooperate in carrying out their duties in the border areas.
