AGARTALA, Nov 16 (TIWN): The "Joint Movement Committee" which has observed a successful Strike today at Kanchanpur over Bru settlement issue has lambasted the Govt for one-sided move with the Bru settlement pact. This "Joint Movement" is made up of "Mizo Convention" and "Nagarik Surakhsha Mancha. Both the community rooted organizations described how in riots, their community's people lost homes. They said, the Govt must look after the matter and to go for a high level meeting. Mizo Convention chief Dr. Zairemthiama Pachuau demanded a high level meeting for discussion and equal treatment to all community's people under the Central and State Govt pact.
On the other side, former Congress President, Prince Pradyot Manikya who left Congress over NRC issue with the Congress Party has met CM Biplab Deb seeking immediate Bru settlement.
Locals, that is the Joint Movement Committee supporters cited, Tripura's 8 districts to settle the Brus by keeping balance and also demanded equal compensation for Mizo and Bengali victims, who lost houses in riot sponsored by Bru earlier.
The committe will go in further proetsts. Today a deputation was palced to SDM, Kanchanpur with all demands.
