AGARTALA, Nov 13 (TIWN): Public have caught a thief red-handed in Ramnagar-7, Agartala when amid he was trying to snatch a mobile phone and gold necklace from a girl-child.

The thief came as a customer and sought a newspaper. The girl was playing while her mother was attending the other customers. Suddenly, she saw her daughter is afraid and sitting far and shivering. She had no mobile in her hand. Being asked, she told her mother that the man caught he neck and made her afraid and snatched mobile, necklace. After that in seconds her mother screamed alerting people around about theft incident and rushed outside. The thief could not escape till then and after the woman pointed him, locals caught him, beaten him and slashed his hair. Later police took the thief with them. Both the necklace and mobile were found.

The thief has been identified named Litan Debnath.
