AGARTALA, Oct 24 (TIWN): Traditional Kumari Puja has been observed in various temples and household pujas on Maha Astami across Tripura. In Govinda Baul's domestic puja at Badharghat Maitri Palli, 11 years old girl, Chitrakshi Chakraborty has been given puja, as per the traditional norm of the puja. During the puja, the priest has given her name 'Sandhya'. In Kumari puja, the girl should preferably Hindu Brahmin and also virgin. She is worshipped as a form of Goddess Durga. This is one of the most popular rituals on Maha-Astami of Durga puja. Worship of the Almighty as Divine Mother is an age-old tradition in India and a refined part of Indian culture.According to Sri Ramakrishna, little girls at the tender age when they are away from negative forces of the materialistic world are manifestations of the Divine Mother. Durga puja will be ended on Monday with Vijaya Dasami.
