AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Tripura Law Minister Ratanlal Nath on 29th June in a press conference has said that the people who attacked in blood donation camps can not be arrested. Countering the statement of the Minister CPI-M leader Jitendra Choudhury said that by saying this, the Minister has committed a legal offence, indeed, a ‘Criminal Offence’. CPI-M also has given a press release countering the Statement of the Minister. In the press release, CPI-M stated, “Law Minister has claimed that nobody can be arrested in crimes which are punishable only for 7 years.
Hence, cases can be registered against them - according to Supreme Court’s order, but the claim of the Minister is totally against the Law as in the Criminal Procedure Law (41 No Act) it is said that Police can arrest the person under suspects as by not arresting him, it will give the person a free hand not to remain present on calls and also can manipulate the witnesses”.
CPI-M said, a police can surely arrest a person but proper evidence for arrest should be provided in the court.
“This statement of Minister Ratanlal Nath is to confuse the people”, said the CPI-M in the press release.
